Christince Vumai

Christince's unique gift in teaching is getting her students to go much deeper than just the physical practice. She guides her students on the journey of uncovering who they are at their core in a loving and playful way. She loves to watch her students gain confidence, transform their inner dialogue and grow in ways they never thought possible.

Yoga is a vast science and Christince has dedicated the last 18 years to deepening her understanding on the mat, in the books and through life experience. Being sober for almost 2 years, she has discovered a new passion of integrating her yogic teachings with her recovery and sharing that gift with others.

My Story

Christince has been practicing yoga for almost two decades. She started during her first pregnancy with an at home DVD. After finally taking a few classes in a real studio she was hooked. Like most, yoga first began as a physical practice. After discovering Ashtanga, she began to see the effects of her practice transform other parts of her life. She soon started studying on her own, and eventually enrolled in teacher training. Since then, she has dedicated herself to yoga and the study of this vast science. Christince fully integrates all aspects of the teachings of Patanjali into her classes, in a very inclusive and accessible way. She truly believes in what yoga has to offer on a physical, mental, and spiritual level and loves helping people find ease and joy in following their own paths.

In most recent years Christince has learned to apply her yogic lifestyle and its philosophy to help her overcome her addiction to alcohol. Taking sobriety one day at a time and sometimes breath by breath, Christince has learned to find humility and liberation from the daily struggles of addiction. While it has always been her passion to help others from all walks of life, the integration of yoga and recovery has been truly transformational.

Christince received her initial teacher training through Siva Yoga Studio and has taught yoga to all ages, from elementary students in USD 259 to the elderly in local retirement homes. She is continually studying with her teacher Tim Feldmann of Miami Life Center, and travels across the country to study with other amazing leaders of Ashtanga yoga such as Tim Miller, Richard Freeman & Mary Taylor, and David Garrigues. Christince is also completing her Reiki Master training under the guidance of Rikky Maas. In addition to teaching yoga, Christince enjoys spending time with her husband and children, knitting and going to concerts.
